About the SCNY Members Meet and Greet:
SCNY members are welcome to join us for a Meet and Greet prior to the lecture. Wine, cheese, cookies, snacks, and mingle, a great opportunity for new members to meet other members. Enjoy the privileges of membership at this lovely reception in the historic parlor of the Salmagundi Club. The evening presents as a great chance to learn about the club, Salmagundi history, make friends, and meet SCNY club historian Alexander Katlan. The Skip Weinstock Trio will be performing at the reception.
About the lecture:
The perfect opportunity to learn about and gain insight into the history of the club and the palette collection.This lecture is open to the general public and Salmagundi club members. With the Salmagundi being such a prestigious club for so many years we are fortunate to be able to learn from the exemplary members. The club first was founded in 1871 as the Salmagundi Sketch Club. The discussion and power point will show high lights of the Salmagundi Club's collection as well as the formation of the palette collection.
About the speaker:
Alexander Katlan is a SCNY member Emeritus, author, and painting conservator for museums and private clients. Mr. Katlan has given numerous lectures at the Salmagundi Club, the West Point Museum, National Gallery of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Reception Performers- Musicians:
The Skip Weinstock Trio will be performing.. This evening the performance will be Skip Weinstock, Fernando Martinez and Jonah Weinstock. Salmagundi Club member Skip Weinstock and his Trio have performed at clubs, events, and fine restaurants in Manhattan for many years. Their specialty is playing jazz standards, and classics from the American Songbook. Skip, Fernando, and Jonah recently performed at the Salmagundi Thumb Box Exhibition Reception on December 7, 2018 and Skip and Fernando recently performed at the Reception for the Panel Discussion: Collins, Bauman, Watwood & Mastromatteo: Moderated by Dale Zinkowski on January 11.
In conjunction with this event, attendees are welcome to dine in the Salmagundi Club dining room downstairs after the lecture. Please call 212-255-7740 to make a reservation at least a week in advance of the event. Reservations are required.
