Join Robert Pillsbury, SCNY President, for an evening of discovery!

The versatility of encaustic waxes colored with pigments, applied and tooled with low-heat instruments and brushes from a molten palette, is truly an outstanding adventure in making art.

This technique has existed for more than 2000 years and today there is a strong resurgence of interest and activity in the use of encaustic. I am deeply involved in the challenge of bringing this medium to a point of true revolution, a re-birth of heat and wax techniques with materials that incorporate unusual luminosity, durability, style and creative potential.

This event and the SCNY Presidents' Dinner on Wednesday, May 11, are in conjunction with the SCNY Annual Members' Exhibition and Hail to the Chiefs: Works by SCNY Presidents in the Permanent Collection.
