Lumen Martin Winter: An Artist Rediscovered

Presentation by Senior Curator Joshua Ruff of the Long Island Museum of  American Art, History and Carriages, Stony Brook, N.Y.

Lumen Martin Winter was a long time member and exhibitor of the Salmagundi Club joining in 1950 until his death in 1982. He designed the logo for the Apollo XIII Astronauts logo- Steeds of Apollo and among other murals, the 18 foot bas-relief of Roman Travertine marble and blue Venetian glass mosaic at St Paul the Apostle Lincoln center south.  He was also a signature member of the American Watercolor Society. The Long Island Museum of American Art, History and Carriages in Stony Brook, N.Y.  will be hosting an exhibition of Lumen Winters' works June 23- September 17. SCNY will be offering a bus trip to the exhibition on June 24, 2017,  leaving 9 am and returning 5 pm. More information is forthcoming!
