Don Demers: Paintings from Provence
Patrons' Gallery, December 03, 2017 - December 13, 2017
Patrons Gallery, December 3rd to December 13th.
Weekdays, 1PM -6PM. Weekends, 1PM -5PM.
This collection of twenty two paintings were created in the south of France over the past two Springs.
"The scale of the works are small due to the fact that they were all created on location. Some of the works were later refined in the studio. The time I spent in Provence with an intimate group of dear friends and painters was a joyous experience. The beauty in that part of the world is warm, charming, graceful and humble, as are the people.
I hope that through my travels with my paint box, I'm able to convey some of the romance and aesthetic of Provence.
Please join me on Dec. 3rd in the upstairs gallery at the Salmagundi Club to view and enjoy these works." -Don Demers
The reception runs from 5 to 7. Wine and light hors d'oeuvres will be served.
The paintings are for sale, but please note that some of the works have been presold.
About the Artist:
Mr. Demers was born in 1956, in the small, rural community of Lunenburg, Massachusetts. His interest in painting maritime subjects began while spending his summers on the coast of Maine near Boothbay Harbor. After finishing an exemplary high school art program, he furthered his education at the School of the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester, MA, and the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, MA. Don’s maritime experience came about as a crewmember aboard many traditional sailing vessels including schooners and square-riggers. He continues to be an avid sailor. His professional career began as an illustrator and expanded into the field of fine art. His illustrations can be found on many book covers and in national publications such as Reader’s Digest, Sail Magazine, Field & Stream, Sports Afield, Yankee, and National Geographic.
