Special Exhibition of Works by Sylvia Maria Glesmann
Patrons' Gallery, April 27, 2015 - May 21, 2015

SCNY is proud to announce a Special Exhibition of works by Sylvia Maria Glesmann, the 2015 recipient of the Salmagundi Medal of Honor.

A member of Salmagundi for many years, Sylvia Maria Glesmann has been an artist all her life.  She began her studies as a teenager in a Germany devastated by the Second World War, and she was fortunate to have moved later to the United States with her family, where she has lived ever since.  Sylvia has always loved nature and flowers, and watercolor is her medium of choice.  Her lyrical paintings have been in numerous shows, and she has won many awards.  Sylvia is a major benefactor of the Salmagundi Club, not only in giving our institution its first sizeable grant for the Gallery Renovation but also in donating her personal collection of over 50 watercolors, as well as the funds to maintain them, sponsor the Annual Sylvia Maria Glesmann Members' Flora Show, and provide prizes in several of our exhibitions.

Syvlia will recieve the Salmagundi Medal of Honor Award during the Presidents' Dinner to be held on Wednesday, May 13, For information or reservations, please call 212.255.7740.

The exhibtion is open daily 1-6pm mon-Fri and 1-5pm Sat & Sun.
