“The Perfect Storm” Lecture by Nelson Simon

The true story of an historic Coast Guard rescue in “The Perfect Storm” presented by ship crew member Nelson Simon.
Nelson Simon will present a talk and slide show entitled "The Accidental Sailor.”
Nelson was one of a crew of nine who was rescued by the USCG from the mid-Atlantic during what became known as "The Perfect Storm.” This event will take place while the COGAP Collection 2017 Inaugural Exhibition is hanging in the Salmagundi Club’s Upper Gallery. The ship: Anne Kristine, 150 year old, 95 foot Norwegian schooner.

Painting (above) by George Schoenberg depicts October, 1991. A storm in the Atlantic Ocean catches a sailboat 300 miles off Cape Henry, Virginia…the only rescue possible – the U.S. Coast Guard.
