The versatility of encaustic waxes colored with pigments, applied and tooled with low-heat instruments and brushes from a molten palette, is truly an outstanding adventure in making art. This technique has existed for more than 2000 years and today there is a strong resurgence of interest and activity in the use of encaustic. Mr. Pillsbury is deeply involved in the challenge of bringing this medium to a point of true revolution, a re-birth of heat and wax techniques with materials.
Prior to this workshop, there will be an an Encaustic Demonstration on March 9th!

The unusual format of this figure painting, and/or drawing workshop will have the added benefit of having two top instructors present at all times.  As one instructor demonstrates during the morning session the other will assist students with their work.  In the afternoon they will reverse positions so you can watch how the other approaches the same subject and as well as getting the benefit of instruction from the other.
Another great benefit from this workshop will be having new models each of the three days, facilitating more concentrated learning.
Savannah Cuff, also an instructor at the prestigious Grand Central Atelier, won the $10,000 Grand Prize at Grand Central’s highly competitive Figure Drawing Contest in 2016.
