Gala Event and Sale: May 1st, 6-8 pm, with jazz by Jeevan D'Souza TrioSome 45 nationally and internationally recognized fine artists will show over 100 pieces in a variety of media for this premier art event. During the Gala Event, Friday, May 1, attendees will vie for the opportunity to purchase these works. Register for the Gala by calling us at (212) 255.7740 or send us an email. Christopher Blossom Retrospective

Open to the public daily, 1-5 pmThis exhibition will feature paintings from the last 20 years of Blossom's illustrious career, borrowed from collectors and galleries. Included will be examples of his masterful marine paintings: historic recreations of the Gloucester fishing schooners, the distinctive vessels of San Francisco Bay, landscapes depicting inland and coastal scenes from Colorado, Maine, France, and the Bahamas. This retrospective is the first opportunity for collectors and connoisseurs to experience a full range of this artist's unique accomplishments.

This is the 120th Annual Exhibition of NAWA members, with works in all media. Awards will be juried by Joyce Kozloff (collagist/printmaker), Stephanie Borgese (sculptor), and Lori Bookstein (NY gallerist). A full-color catalog will be available.


History Panorama at Fraunces Tavern Museum
One of the First Exhibits in NYC Celebrating the Founding of Manhattan by the Dutch.
Now through July 31

Don't miss this spectacular display of 25 panels painted by Salmagundians, each depicting a moment in NYC history since the Dutch discovery of Manhattan in 1609, before they travel to the Netherlands. "History Panorama" will be at the Fraunces Tavern Museum in the dramatic Flag Room, 54 Pearl Street, NYC, (212) 425-1778. Admission $10 for adults; $5 for Salmagundi Club members.

"Hit & Giggle Billiards," Wednesday, May 20, 6:00 pm - until either Carlos runs out at liquor at the bar or Dag runs out of hors d'oeuvres. We will play doubles; each player will draw a partner's name from a hat. Other Clubs participating are: NAC, NY Athletic Club, University Club, Metropolitan Club, Friar's Club, Union League, Yale Club, Deke Club. A special cue stick, custom made for professional pool player Allison Fisher (ranked #1 for years), will be presented to Pamela Singleton to help her become the best Women's Player at the Salmagundi Club. May 12, Tue, 7:30 pm, Artist Round Table: Photography Lecture, "Writing with Light" by Bo Kass.
A Salmagundi member, Kass will discuss black and white photography: from shooting film in natural light to creating the final print. She will also discuss photography as an art form currently in transition, as well as alternative non-digital methods used by traditional photographers.

May 13, Wed, 7:30 pm, Poetry Reading: Riverside Poetry Workshop.
The Riverside Poetry Workshop has been reading their work in many public venues: libraries, galleries,and saloons for more than a dozen years, led by Arthur Bitterman. This very passionate group of poets will be making their first appearance at the Club.

May 14, Thur, 6:30 - 8:00 pm, Lecture: on Urban Archelogy, "Digging Greenwich Village", by Diana Di Zerega Wall.
Co-Author of "Unearthing Gotham: The Archeology of New York City" and Professor of Anthropology at CUNY Graduate Center and City College, Wall will discuss archaeologists who excavate in and under modern cities, the unique challenges they face, and the techniques they use. May 21, Thur, 7:00 pm, Product Demonstration: "The Quest For Color: Knowledge Meets Desire on a Palette."
Gail F. Spiegel, colorist for Vasari with over thirty years of color expertise, is uniquely qualified to discuss and prove the value of both traditional and modern pigments, revealing the advantages they can provide artists in executing successful oil paintings.

Event Rental: The Club is an ideal venue for your next event, party or meeting. Nearly all of the public galleries and rooms are available for rental with the option of on-site catering.

Gallery Rental: Weekly rentals for art exhibitions are available for the Main Gallery, Billiard Room (aka Lower Gallery), the Library, and the "Patron's Gallery," a lovely, newly renovated space on the second floor.
