Paintings of Weir Farm by Andrew Jones
Patrons Gallery, Sept. 30 - Oct. 29, 2011
Viewing Hours: Monday through Friday from 1 - 7pm
Saturday and Sunday from 1 - 5pm

This one-man show in the Patron’s Gallery features oil paintings by Salmagundi Club member Andrew Berrien Jones. These landscapes depict the Weir Farm National Historic Site in Wilton, Connecticut, where Jones was artist-in-residence in October 2010.

Weir Farm was the country retreat of the New York impressionist, J. Alden Weir, himself a Salmagundi member. The paintings, completed by Jones after his residency, depict the red-painted buildings, old stone walls, and oak forests of this archetypal New England setting. The show, which will be the subject of an upcoming article in Fine Art Connoisseur, is open through October. In conjunction with this show, the Salmagundi Club is hosting a panel discussion on Weir on Monday October 21 and a bus trip to the farm on Sunday October 29.
