Judy Takacs Judy Takacs

Starting a portrait, I humbly begin a long-term relationship with the face, hands and body, massaging folds and building form, seeking the profound and elusive brushstrokes that breathe truth and life into my painting.

My Ohio Arts Council grant-awarded traveling portrait project, “Chicks with Balls: Judy Takács paints unsung female heroes” spotlights ordinary women of courage… topless, holding balls symbolizing strengths and struggles.

I have exhibited at museums nationally including, ArtNEO, Evansville, Zanesville, Haggin and the Butler Institute. My paintings are archived with Cleveland legends at the Artists Archives of the Western Reserve. I write for the Literature Committee of the Portrait Society of America and currently hold a board position with Allied Artists of America as Social Media chair.

As a life-long painter of people, I've found fascinating individuals with unique stories inspire painting concepts which invite viewers to linger, connect and empathize.
