Sally Fama Cochrane

Sally Fama Cochrane (b. 1988) was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She graduated from the University of Chicago in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree with honors in the History and Philosophy of Science. While in college, she studied part-time at the School of Representational Art in downtown Chicago, where she first discovered her passion for the atelier method of painting and drawing. After college she studied at the Grand Central Atelier in New York City from 2011-2014, and worked as a Resident Artist there from 2015-2016. Her current work combines her fascination with science and medicine and her love of traditional realism through the use of symbolism and allegory in figurative painting, portraiture, and still lives. She has won a scholarship from the Grand Central Atelier, awards from The Representational Art Conference (2015), and the Art Renewal Center International Salon for Trompe-L’oeil Painting (2013).
