Alexander W. Katlan Alexander W. Katlan

"As a full time painting conservator for over forty years I have given numerous lectures both at the Salmagundi Club, at the West Point Museum, National Gallery of Art, Washington DC and The Philadelphia Museum of Art. I have also been a long standing member of the Club joining in 1982 as a resident artist and now emeritus. In 2008, the Medal of Honor and Merit was kindly awarded to me by the Club. Also as an "Unofficial-Historian" for the club, I have published - using my own funds and time- five Club books including the Black and White exhibitions 1878-87, The Hartford Salmagundians, the Water Color Exhibition and the (2 vols)- in order to make available the fragile records of the Club's history. I believe the Salmagundi Club and its membership is very altruistic and generous -and that the Club has great potential".
